What Does IP67 Really Mean?

In a previous blog we touched on the concept of the IP rating or code.  The Ingress Protection rating is an important classification system developed by the European Committee for Electro Technical Standardization (CENELEC). The system specifies the level of environmental protection that electronic enclosures provide. The rating itself consists of two numbers (there is a third number, but it is rarely used), the first deals with protection from solids, while the second is about the level of protection from liquids.

If you visit our website and read up on Techna-Tool’s BK Mikro you will find that it has a IP67 rating. You might be wondering, ‘what does that really mean??’

If you look at the chart below you can see that an IP67 rating means that our BK Mikro scanners are totally protected against dust (6) and protected against the effect of immersion between 15cm and 1m (7). A rating this high indicates a product that is designed to handle some of the harshest machining environments.  Within our industry the IP rating carries a great deal of weight, it says that you are purchasing a product that will stand up to a very specific set of exacting standards.

At Techna-Tool, integrity and service are what we sell, so receiving an IP67 rating for our BK Mikro means a great deal to us. We believe that it shows our dedication to quality and our level of commitment to our customers.
